Terms of use
Draft for legal review. Last updated 8 October 2026.
Who we are
Humanity Lands runs small in-person gatherings outdoors. It is part of the work of Solm Systems Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales [COMPANY NUMBER, REGISTERED ADDRESS]. In these terms, "we" and "us" mean Humanity Lands.
Coming to a gathering is at your own risk
Our gatherings take place on real ground: paths, fields, woods, water, weather. The ground can be uneven, wet or steep, and conditions can change during an event.
You come at your own risk. You are responsible for deciding whether a gathering is suitable for you, for your own safety and fitness, and for the safety of anyone you bring. Wear suitable clothing and footwear, bring what you need, and tell us beforehand about anything we should know.
We take reasonable care in choosing places and planning each gathering. We do not exclude liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or for anything else the law does not allow us to exclude. Otherwise, to the extent the law allows, we are not responsible for loss, injury or damage to you or your belongings that arises from attending.
Guests and hosts give their time and their views freely. What they say is their own view and is not advice. Nothing said at a gathering is medical, legal, financial or professional advice.
Membership
To book a gathering you apply once and a person reads your application. If we approve you, you can book any gathering. We may decline an application, or remove a member, if we think a gathering would be better for it. We will say why if you ask. You can leave at any time by writing to us.
Booking, paying and cancelling
Some gatherings are free. Others are pay what you can: we suggest an amount and you choose what to pay, from nothing upwards. Nobody is turned away for paying nothing. [PAYMENT PROVIDER] handles card payments.
Places are limited. If a gathering is full you can join the waitlist, and we will offer you a place if one opens, which you then have 48 hours to accept. If you cannot come, tell us as early as you can so someone else can have your place. [REFUND AND CANCELLATION POLICY]. If we cancel, for weather or any other reason, we will tell you as soon as we can and refund anything you paid.
How we ask you to be
Be present. No calls or emails while we walk. Use technology when it helps, for example to name a plant or photograph something worth keeping. Respect the land, the people who own and look after it, and each other. Take only photographs, leave no litter, and follow the instructions of the host and the people running the day. We may ask someone to leave a gathering if they put others at risk or spoil it for them.
Photographs and what you say
We take photographs only when something is worth keeping, and only with the permission of the people in them. We will not publish a picture of you if you ask us not to. What people say in the group stays in the group unless they agree to its being written up, and any writing about a gathering will not name you without your consent.
Your profile and the journal
Your profile is shown on the site, and other members can contact you, only if you have said you are happy for that. You can change those choices at any time. If you write for the journal, you keep the rights to your words and give us permission to publish them on this site. We may edit for length and clarity and will show you the final version first.
This website
We try to keep the site accurate and available, but we cannot promise it will always be. Dates, places and prices can change. The words, pictures and design belong to Humanity Lands or to the people who made them, and you may not copy them without asking.
Changes and the law
We may update these terms. The date at the top shows when. These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and its courts have jurisdiction. This does not affect your rights as a consumer.
